A gift shop bag that matched a five-star refurbishment
A newly refurbished property needed retail packaging in three sizes, at quantities its previous supplier would not quote.
Five-star city hotel, Dublin

The requirement
Three carrier bag sizes for the gift shop, a voucher wallet for the spa and a hamper box for Christmas — all in one identity, all in the low hundreds per line.
The audience
International leisure guests and a local clientele using the spa and restaurant, both of whom would judge the bag against luxury retail they already knew.
The challenge
The property's brand colour was a deep aubergine that had been signed off on a screen. On coated stock it went cold and slightly blue; on uncoated it dulled. Their previous supplier had run it without checking, and the first bags did not match the interiors.
Our recommendation
We proofed the colour on three stocks and specified an uncoated 210gsm with a matt lamination, which held the depth without the blue cast. Handles in dyed cotton rope matched to the same reference, and the crest in blind deboss rather than foil so it read as restraint rather than decoration.
The result
Three nested sizes sharing one dieline family, produced in runs of 300 to 500 per size. Artwork held on file, with the Christmas variant now a two-week reorder.
“The first sample was closer to our interiors than anything we had been sent in two years of trying.”
